Apple Releases Sub-$1,000 iMac for Schools


In a move that is garnering far less attention than the upcoming iPhone 5 release, Apple is expected to unveil a new iMac with a price tag of under $1,000.

千亿体育官网 The catch in obtaining one of the new desktops is that purchasers must be educational institutions. The new iMacs will not be sold in Apple stores, nor will they be available to individuals.

 reports that the new iMac costs $999, and comes with a 3.1GHz dual-core Intel Core i3 processor and a 250GB hard drive. The computer also runs the AMD Radeon HD 6750M graphics card.

Apple blog  that the company would launch the new iMac just in time for back-to-school.

This marks the second time that Apple has made its popular desktop line available to schools at a discounted price. In 2006 the firm released a 17-inch iMac for educational institutions for $899.
